About SICAS
The Swiss Institute for Computer Assisted Surgery SICAS was launched in 2011 with contributions from ETH Zurich, the Universities of Bern and Basel, and with the support of the Canton of Jura. SICAS has emerged from the National Centre of Competence in Research NCCR Co-Me hosted by ETH Zurich. Some 500 researchers participated and CHF 118 million was invested in the NCCR Co-Me. The purpose of the SICAS foundation is to encourage and support research, education and science-based innovation in the field of computer-assisted surgery with a focus on the network approach.
The goals of SICAS are to
- maintain and expand the network of scientists, engineers, clinicians and entrepreneurs
- run the SICAS Medical Image Repository SMIR
- organize and support courses for surgeons
- support clinical and university partners
- be the national access point for Computer Assisted Surgery in Switzerland.
